Halloween is a celebration observed in many countries yearly on 31st October, it was believed that ghosts came back to the earthly world, so to avoid being recognized by these ghosts, people would wear masks when they left their homes after dark so that the ghosts would mistake them for fellow spirits. It is now a festivity marked with a week long activity of shopping, decorating, costume parties and trick-or-treating.
The Halloween tradition is believed by many to have originated from an ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts. While some academics theorize that ‘Halloween’ began solely as a Christian holiday, being the vigil of All Hallow’s Day (All Saints Day), which is a remembrance day of the Christian saints.
Halloween is considered one of the biggest commercial holidays second to Christmas, as Americans spend an estimated $6 billion annually on Halloween.
This year, some American celebrities decided to create a costume potion of creativity and spooks as they dressed up as mystical, fictional and spooky characters.
