A famous skit maker, Isaac Aloma, who goes by Zicsaloma, has said in an interview that making comedy skits online fetches him more money than he used to get as a lecturer.
The one-time English lecturer at Kaduna Polytechnic said that he had not bought a compact disc or watched television in a long time. He said this is because he is always present on social media; Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook, just like other people who spend more time online nowadays.
He said, “Some people feel that there is no point paying for a show when they can always watch their favourite comedians online, provided they have access to the Internet.”
Expressing his disagreement with the saying that all female entertainers are sponsored by wealthy men, he said, “There is a saying that in every rumour, there is an iota of truth. However, even if that is true, it cannot be applicable to all female comedians or content creators.”
While sharing his knowledge on how female content creators thrive online, he stated that many of them make millions on the internet all on their own. He mentioned that any female creator willing to put her talent to good use and support it with hard work will make more money than any man can offer them.
“I don’t want to mention names but I can vouch for some of them because I know how much they make in a month.”
Responding to the comment that men hit on many female creators, he added, “If a pretty lady is exposed to the public, men will definitely make advances at her. It is left for the person to accept or not.”
Speaking on political campaigns here and there, Zicsaloma highlighted that campaigning for candidates will bring clashes of interests.
“I became popular because of my comedy, so it will be very odd for me to use my platform to campaign for different politicians. They should campaign for themselves and give their manifestoes to the people directly.”
